Alder Buckthorn is a slow growing shrub, most noted for its striking foliage. The leaves of Rhamnus frangula ‘Aspleniifolia’ are slender and almost fern-like in appearance, being bright green during spring and summer before autumn turns them lovely shades of red, bronze and gold. Pale white flowers appear in clusters along the stems in late spring which are attractive to pollinators and can form into berries later in the year. This ornate shrub is ideally suited to hedging although will also comfortably take its place in a woodland garden or shrubbery. Height 400cm (157″). Spread: 300cm (118″).
