This magnificent Magnolia is large and conical in shape, producing lemon-yellow, goblet-shaped flowers in late spring, just as the leaves emerge. The foliage is dark green in colour and contrasts well with the flowers, fading to yellowy brown in autumn. Magnolia x brooklynensis ‘Yellow Bird’ will tolerate sun and part shade if grown in a neutral to acidic soil in a sheltered position. Height: 5m (16′). Spread: 3m (10′). Please note: When grown as a patio standard, the height and spread will be much smaller, reaching around 1.8m (6′).
Culinary note: The young flowers, once separated, can be pickled and then used either on their own as a treat or in salads. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
