Masses and masses of flaming orange flowers with yellow eyes smother this low-growing shrubby perennial, lending a bright pop of colour to spring and early summer borders, when pastel shades normally dominate.
Helianthemum ‘Fire Dragon’ commences flowering in late spring, coinciding with later spring bulbs. The sizzling flowers are complemented by cool, silver-grey, evergreen foliage. Lightly clip plants over after flowering and they will grow into neat hummocks that soften border edges and rockeries, creating pleasing shapes and foliage textures throughout the year. After shearing plants will often have a second, smaller flush of flowers. Thriving in a sunny, free-draining site, these tough little rock roses are drought-tolerant and trouble free. They make excellent groundcover in hot, dry borders and provide food for pollinators early in the season at a time when resources are scarce. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 30cm (12in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
