This spectacular, spreading Snowdrop Tree bears pendants of beautiful, snowdrop-like blooms on bare stems – just before the spring foliage unfurls. As they fade, the flowers are replaced by fascinating, 4-winged, green fruits, which often persist into winter. By autumn, the lush canopy of bright green leaves turns to a buttery shade of yellow. Halesia carolina makes a superb deciduous tree that provides a long season of interest. Try under planting with woodland bulbs for a sensational spring display. Height: 10m (32’). Spread: 8m (26’).
