The brilliant golden foliage of Corylus avellana ‘Aurea’ heralds the spring before maturing to yellow-green in summer. This slow-growing, spreading shrub bears creamy yellow catkins on bare branches in late winter which mature to deep yellow, attracting pollinators to their early source of nectar. The catkins are followed by the richly coloured foliage which creates a spring spectacle, especially when viewed against a dark backdrop. Corylus avellana Aurea makes a handsome addition to a large border or as a stand-alone specimen. Plants may produce nuts if a suitable pollinator is nearby. Height: 6m (19.6ft) Spread: 4m (13ft).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
