A rounded, deciduous tree bearing spreading tiered branches. Elliptic 15cm (6″) leaves are glossy, dark green above and glaucous beneath and turn a rich red-purple during the autumn. Fragrant, small, white star shaped flowers are produced in large cymes to 18cm (7’’) across during May and June. Spherical blue/black berries appear in autumn. An outstanding specimen tree for a larger garden as it does need space. Does best in fertile, humus rich, well drained neutral to acid soil in sun or partial shade. Fully hardy. Height: 15m (50’). Spread: 15m (50’).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
