The unusual textured growth and blue colour of this dwarf Cypress makes a unique focal feature for a rock garden. Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Chirimen’ takes its name from the wrinkly crepe fabric used to make Japanese kimonos. Its densely textured foliage is a striking feature, with irregular, vertically branching shoots covered in crinkly, congested foliage in shades of blue/green. The slow-growing ‘Chirimen’ has a pyramid or columnar habit and makes a lovely textural accent for a sunny position with excellent drainage. Average annual growth rate 2.5 – 15 cm (1 to 6in). Height and spread after 10 years: 60-80cm (23-31in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
