Arbutus Unedo ‘Roselily’

This selection of Strawberry Tree is distinguished by the delicate shell-pink colouring of its pretty, urn-shaped flowers. Arbutus unedo ‘Roselily’ is a handsome evergreen small tree or large shrub that delivers all year-round interest. It makes an excellent choice for coastal and urban locations, associating perfectly with Mediterranean plantings and providing a banquet of late food for pollinating insects in wildlife-friendly gardens. Beneath a domed crown of evergreen, glossy foliage, strong branches develop cinnamon-brown bark which sheds on maturity. In early autumn, clusters of pretty, bell-shaped, pale pink flowers show up beautifully against the dark backdrop of leathery leaves. The flowers are followed by striking strawberry-like fruits which develop from the previous year’s flowers. Maximum height and spread: 4-8m (13-26ft).
