A special dwarf selection of Strawberry Tree, Arbutus unedo ‘Atlantic’ makes an excellent compact tree for small spaces, urban gardens, courtyards and even planters. Free-flowering and free-fruiting from an early age, with glossy, evergreen foliage and beautiful cinnamon-coloured bark on maturity, it provides interest throughout the year. It is ideal for coastal and urban gardens, associating perfectly with Mediterranean plantings and providing a banquet of late food for pollinating insects in wildlife-friendly gardens. Arbutus unedo ‘Atlantic’ forms a bushy, domed-shaped tree. In early autumn, it is covered in clusters of pretty, bell-shaped, creamy white to pink flowers against a dark backdrop of leathery leaves. The flowers are followed by striking strawberry-like fruits which develop from the previous year’s flowers. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height:3 – 4 m (10 – 13 ft). Spread: 2.5 – 3 m (8 – 10 ft).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
